Finnish Venture Capital Association: builders of sustainable growth and competitiveness in 2024
The year 2024 for the Finnish Venture Capital Association (FVCA) was marked by significant research initiatives, events, and efforts to enhance the visibility of the industry. Our primary focus was on fostering a competitive and predictable operating environment for the venture capital and private equity sector.
In 2024, our advocacy efforts centered on the merger of state-owned venture capital entities, particularly the proposed new investment strategy for Tesi.. Additionally, we prioritized the development of a competitive and predictable operating environment for the venture capital and private equity industry.
We actively worked to ensure that neither legislation nor taxation would become obstacles to fundraising. Furthermore, we examined the suitability of different fund structures for various investor types and assessed the need for developing new fund structures.
Impact study highlights growth drivers in Finland
An impact study conducted in collaboration with PwC highlighted the significant role of venture capital and private equity investors in accelerating Finland’s economic growth and employment. The study demonstrated that portfolio companies backed by these investors are key drivers of growth and job creation. This discussion further reinforced the industry’s role as a societal influencer.
In 2024, FVCA organized nearly 20 high-level events that supported networking and professional development. As a new initiative, we launched quarterly briefings for members to provide timely updates on changes in the operating environment.
The Finnish Venture Capital Association extends its gratitude to its members and partners for a successful 2024. The association will continue its efforts to highlight the societal value of the venture capital and private equity industry and its role as a significant driver of sustainable growth and prosperity in Finland.
“We aim to be a progressive and bold advocate that creates the conditions for economic growth and innovation. The year 2024 demonstrated that the industry is a key player in building Finland’s sustainable growth and competitiveness. This provides a strong foundation to continue our work in the coming year,” says Anne Horttanainen, Managing Director of the Finnish Venture Capital Association.
