Gorilla Capital Fund III has made its 67th investment in Comparables.ai, an AI platform that gives M&A teams visibility across global private and public markets.
Much of M&A still runs on closed networks and partial information, so buyers and advisors can miss bidders and targets. Comparables.ai is built for corporate development teams, private equity firms, M&A advisors and investment banks. It combines a dataset covering over 370 million active companies with an AI discovery engine that maps a market in minutes. Users describe the market they’re looking for, and the platform returns the companies, financials, ownership structures and decision makers behind it.
The platform now supports more than 50,000 professionals in over 30 countries, and a Big Four advisory firm is extending its deployment to more than 10 countries. The company has raised $6M in seed funding to support rollouts in more markets and to develop its AI engine further.
Comparables.ai was founded by four people. Niko Nalli, Markus Vesala and Martin Kangasniemi bring experience in M&A advisory and financial markets. CTO Muhammad Ammad-ud-din holds a PhD from Aalto University and did postdoctoral research at the University of Helsinki. The company is headquartered in Helsinki.
”Mid-market M&A has always been a visibility problem. If you cannot see the whole field, you cannot run the best process. We built Comparables.ai to give any deal team the asymmetric advantage of a global bank,” says Martin Kangasniemi, Co-founder, Comparables.ai.
”When a private equity firm looks for add-on acquisitions, or an M&A advisor builds a buyer list for a mid-market sale, analysts still piece this data together by hand from company registries, databases and spreadsheets. Niko, Markus and Martin did this manual work themselves as analysts, and they built Comparables.ai to replace it. At Gorilla, we back founders who build from a problem they know first-hand, and we’re pleased to support the team as they build step by step,” says Risto Rautakorpi, Partner at Gorilla Capital.
We are pleased to partner with lead investors Pragmatech and Araya Ventures, alongside Purple Ventures, hi5 Ventures and Somersault Ventures.
